just in case i will repost what i put to sober on here incase she sees it... Hey soberin: I dont know if its a case of allowed... but for me i still have days when i am full of self pity and many more days where i have fear in my life.... but i have to talk about it... i have learned through friends here and at home that fear and self pity are what will take me back to my old ways of dealing with life... It doesnt mean i cant feel them... no one can stop us feeling... but our reactions to these feelings can change... I was telling a friend today that i had such fear in me last night that i wanted to use an old behaviour in dealing with this... it was so intense... but instead i said a prayer... thought it through... RECOGNISED it for what it was and decided not to do it... Each time i do this i get stronger... i learn how to deal with the pain i feel... and it hurts... it hurts real bad... but it doesnt have to rule my life... i know thats easier said than done... but it doesnt... i didnt wake this morning feeling better about the fear... thats still there... but i didnt have to clear up any wreakage of damage that i could have caused myself or others... thats an imprivement in my book... I still think its ok to feel what we feel... but as i get stronger i recognise more and more what i used to do where behavours to control my feelings... and they didnt... they just smothered them for alitle while... but like now they were still there... but no more extreme and no more wreckage clearance Its learning healthier ways to deal with these feeling... thats a hard one for me... i so want to use old behaviours sometimes cos they are comforting... i know them... i knw they keep me safe at the time... but after... i feel so out of control... angry with myself... disappointed... So where is at first i started with possible one emotion i wanted to stop... i end up wth adding to it with another 3 or 4 more distructive/negative feelings... that i need to escape And so the circle continues My sponsor says... we are not addicts... we are master escape artistist..  I know i am Sorry this was long winded... im outta breath now... best get me ciggie out me mouth and go take me inhaler |
