lightningbug...how much time off do you have? I had 6 weeks off. 4 spent in rehab and 2 at home. Company is very understanding. I am very lucky to even kept my job. |

I read that Seattle Times article about the mail carrier. Ha. That's like any job 101. Everyone has an opinion and they are all experts on your job.
Add in the extra benefit of Union busting, and there's an opportunity for everyones' worst character traits to show up. Rise above it! Still better than Lowes (Home Depot?)

To some extent, yeah. Truly, though, this mail carrier gig is unlike anything I've ever done. The USPS is a culture unto itself, and yes, complete with the unions. It's pretty interesting. The history is fascinating... the postal service started before our country was founded in 1776. Its development is credited for paving the way for our country's development.
Anyway, yes you are right about the job 101 thing, and people here definitely have their opinions on this job. But in many ways, what I'm seeing is unique to this industry.

Nah. It's crazy, fun casual atmosphere in the office. No one is serious... not yet, anyway. The postmaster has to be part of the time, but that's the postmaster.
Mostly, it's a group of cackling hens in my office. I'm the quieter one. And the guy next to me is also quiet.
